Many Americans Struggle To Pay For Air Conditioning During Heat Waves

As we head into the hot summer months, many Americans will struggle to pay for utilities. In parts of the country, air conditioning is not a luxury but a necessity.

The federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program does provide some financial assistance. But there is not enough money to go around, and leaders worry the needs will only increase during the pandemic.

Here & Now‘s Tonya Mosley speaks with Mark Wolfe, executive director of the National Energy Assistance Directors’ Association, which represents state directors who are participating in the federal assistance program.
