Event Description

Expert advice and a variety of unique plants will be two of the features at the Saturday, May 19, plant sale put on by Penn State Extension Master Gardeners of Centre County. The annual event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Penn State Ag Progress Days venue on state Route 45, nine miles southwest of State College. Visitors should use entrance K. The sale will offer more than 5,000 plants, including vegetables, herbs, native species, pollinators and infrequently seen annuals. Attendees can also visit the Spring Festival at the Pasto Ag Museum of Penn State, with demonstrations, tours and children’ activities. Master Gardeners will be on hand to help with plant selection and to answer questions on planting, insects and caring for your garden. In addition, there will be “learning tables” on growing luffas, planting bulbs, using grow boxes, caring for bonsai plants, and propagating house plants. Gardening activities for children will be featured for the first time. A silent auction and a garage sale of gardening items will also be held. A detailed list of plants for sale, vendors and other information is available at bit.ly/MGPlantSale. The event is the only fund-raising event for Centre County Master Gardeners. Trained by Penn State Extension, Master Gardeners are volunteers who offer area residents research-based educational programs in consumer horticulture and caring for the environment.
