Health Minute: Depression
WPSU’s Health Minute is a collaboration with Penn State’s Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing.
More than 2 million Americans struggle with depression, according to MentalHealth.gov.
Depression can impact anyone, regardless of race, age, or ethnicity.
It’s more than just feeling sad if the feelings of sadness last at least two weeks. Other symptoms include a lack of interest in activities that were previously enjoyed, change in appetite, inability to sleep or oversleeping, lack of energy, feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, and thoughts of dying.
If you have these feelings and symptoms or know anyone with them, help is available.
Please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.
