The coronavirus has continued to spread around the world, weeks after initially affecting China and other portions of Asia.

An outbreak in Lombard had Italian officials scrambling to contain its spread. The Mediterranean country is now the country outside Asia with the highest number of cases. Cases in Austria and Croatia have been reported in connection to the outbreak in northern Italy.

The coronavirus might be coming to the United States in a big way. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are warning American communities that the infection will almost certainly begin spreading.

How is Washington responding to these reports? What has the global response been like in recent days?
