The Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Reauthorization Act is up for reauthorization by Congress this fall, and lobbyists have a penned a letter asking for funding in that program to go toward new antibiotic development. Every year at least 2 million Americans are infected with bacteria that are resistant to available antibiotics, resulting in at least 23,000 deaths.
