COURTESY OF SCASD
State College Area School District Superintendent Bob O'Donnell says the School District continues to work on inclusiveness.

The State College Area School District issued a statement on Thursday, condemning acts of violence and hatred in Charlottesville. In the statement, the School District calls for inclusiveness.

The statement condemns racial and ethnic prejudice. Superintendent Bob O’Donnell said, students are going to raise questions, and as a new school year approaches, the schools are ready to have this conversation.

“We felt that it was very important to not only denounce the racism, hatred and violence presented in the Charlottesville tragedy," O'Donnell said. "But also to let our community know what we are doing to improve the environment within our schools for every student.”

O’Donnell said teachers and staff are receiving training in how to facilitate conversations to better understand and support students.
