Penn State Student Found Dead In Ferguson Township

Penn State student Nicholas W. Snyder, 23, was found dead in his home on West College Avenue on Saturday, March 19. Snyder was originally from Chambersburg, Pennsylvania and enrolled full-time at Penn State University Park, majoring in hospitality management.

Ferguson Township police responded and found no signs of foul play. Police suspect the death may be related to a substance overdose. The autopsy was performed on Sunday at the Centre County Coroner's Office.

When asked for a statement, L. Reidar Jensen, assistant director of news and content integration at Penn State, said, "We share our heartfelt condolences with Nicholas’ family and friends, and with all whose lives he touched. Penn State Student Affairs has reached out to his family and will offer any and all necessary support."

This is the third suspicious death in Ferguson Township since the beginning of the year. Pine Groves Mill resident Jean Tuggy was found dead in her home on January 21. The coroner has since determined it was an intentional homicide.

On February 23, Philadelphia resident Corrine Pena was found dead on Plainfield Road. Robert Moir, Patton Township resident, was charged with abuse of a corpse in connection with the case.
