As the Senate Intelligence Committee holds a hearing on Russian meddling last year’s elections, Here & Now‘s Jeremy Hobson speaks with two former lawmakers to get their thoughts on that and other foreign policy issues facing the Trump administration.
Richard Lugar was a longtime Republican senator from Indiana, and Lee Hamilton served as a Democratic congressman from the Hoosier state. They’re leading the America’s Role in the World conference at Indiana University this week.
“My own personal preference would be an independent commission here,” Hamilton says. “I am not impressed that the Congress is sufficiently united to do a careful job, so I would tend to go towards an independent counsel or commission.”
