The Folk Show Road Show: St. Pat's Day: Boston's Long Time Courting & Galway IRE's We Banjo Three

Long Time Courting
Based in Boston, these four very talented women include a "Female Musician of the Year" (Irish radio giant LiveIreland). a former New England Scottish Fiddle Champion, an honors graduate of the Berklee College of Music, and a member in a recently released film.   Flute, fiddle, cello, guitar and voices blend to interpret Irish melodies and original songs.  Funny, warm and outgoing, the group charmed the crowd.
The band was recorded at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Centre County on Oct. 24, 2014  as part of the Untangled Strings Series, with Jim Thorn at the sound board.

We Banjo Three
We know it doesn't sound like the name of a band of four lads based in Galway, Ireland, featuring fiddle, mandolin, guitar, and, yes…banjo.  They refer to what they play as Irish Old-Time Bluegrass Music and Song,  and there is plenty of Irish in their sound. They were the 2013 LiveIreland "New Band of the Year,"  and their 2014  "Gather the Good, was named "Album of the Year" by Live Ireland and three others.
We recorded them at the Oak Mountain Hideaway near Frenchville, PA.

Mel DeYoung hosts Morning Edition on WPSU and is in the broadcast booth before 5am each weekday. That means that if he's being sensible he goes to sleep way earlier than normal people do. The differences don't end there, but you'll have to chat with Mel sometime to understand the full depth of his abnormality.
