Creamery Celebrates Anniversary with New Flavor

During the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, Penn State's Berkey Creamery continued its 150th anniversary celebrations by unveiling its newest flavor, birthday cake. Earlier in the summer, Creamery fans voted for the newest addition to the menu and birthday cake received more than 2,000 votes.

Now, the Berkey Creamery is continuing the celebrations with a flavor-naming contest.

"We've had one other flavor-naming contest, and that was Peachy Paterno and that was back in 1989. So it's been a long time since we've done this, and we're anxious to see what the results are," Thomas Palchak, the Berkey Creamery manager, said.

Palchak said the Creamery will accept name suggestions until the end of July.

"Well, I like Death by Chocolate, my husband likes Coffee Break. Actually, I like any kind of ice cream," Joan Sprang, a Creamery customer said. Sprang said she visits the Creamery every time she visits here family in the area.
