Event Description

Form and Function in Printmaking and Pottery-- Sept 26 to October 28 Cindy Hassler and Ian Stainton For Cynthia Hassler woodblock printing is about the excitement of process where each step is a chance and the outcome is unpredictable.Starting with objects or images that appeal to her by their shape, colors and textures, she looks for patterns within patterns and details that will distort or abstract as the wood is cut away and each layer of ink is applied. Through allowing the print to evolve, a snake skin can become lace and feathers become trees or a landscape. Ian Stainton Ian Stainton will be showing hi-fired porcelain, made on the wheel. Ian produces functional pottery such as bowls, vases, mugs etc.in beautiful safe glazes.
